In the early hours of Monday morning, N-Power North Central Beneficiaries (N-Tech & N-Creative) residing at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) Abuja embarked on a massive protest over non-payment of allowance.
They lamented they have gone days without food due to non payment of feeding allowance for the month of November. Some also have not even been paid for the month of October.
The Zonal Coordinator (North Central) was present at the protest to address the issue. He started by apologising for delays in payment and the are working earnestly to make payments swift. He also condemned the earlier payment of stipends via table payment as unethical which gave room for various misconducts.
He further promised beneficiaries that coalition of bank details were in progress for subsequent payments and that they will receive their full payment on or before Wednesday this week. This goes in contrast with what was earlier stated by the facilitators of the program that coalition of bank details have already been done
Who are beneficiaries to believe?
Beneficiaries also lamented on the amount of allowance been paid. Rumours had it that other zones within the country receives higher amounts of 60,000 as opposed to the current 42,000 been paid.
Quoting the words of the Coordinator,
“there is no N-Power (N-Tech and N-Creative) beneficiary in Nigeria that receives more than 42,000”
Also, the coordinator urged beneficiaries to be patient and law abiding and in the same manner threatened them of the closure of the program if the contrary is seen. Thus, forfeiting their farewell package.
Seems there has been a mix-up of information or possibly a form of preferential treatment to certain beneficiaries in certain zones of the federation.
The protest came to a stall when the zonal coordinator took his leave as no lectures were held today. This might possibly go on till the depends on payment have been met.
