Terrorists have kidnapped the wife and daughter of the Plateau State Commissioner for Environment, Idi Usman Bamaiyi.
Online reports said the kidnapping took place in the early hours of Monday morning in the Gindiri, Mangu LGA residence of the Commissioner.
Armed terrorists reportedly broke into the home and took away his wife and daughter. It was not clear whether Bamaiyi was at home for the weekend when the terrorists came calling.
The Gindiri area has been a playground for terrorists in recent weeks, reports said.
Mr Ibrahim Chindo, a resident of the community, confirmed that Gindiri general area has been “under seige”.
“Bandits and terrorists have continued to terrorise innocent citizens with no sign of relief in sight. Everyone is scared here,” he said.
ASP Ubah Ogaba, Public Relations Officer of the Plateau Police command in the state, confirmed the incident.
Bamaiyi is one of the aspirants for a seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
