Manchester United’s away kit for the upcoming season has been leaked online and fans are split over whether it’s an instant classic or a mess.
United are set to undergo a reset with Erik ten Hag at the helm following the miserable shambles that was the 2021/22 campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. While the main focus of that process is currently on the club’s efforts in the transfer window, there are other elements to consider.
Kit manufacturer Adidas have been tasked with creating a new look for Ten Hag’s team, but they have instead chosen to revert to the past. The away kit follows the lead of the leaked home kit in paying homage to the famous strip of the Treble-winning 1998/99 season.
United’s away kit for the 2022/23 season, which has been leaked by Footy Headlines , is white with black trim and a black background on the United badge, while the Adidas stripes on the shoulders are black and red. Team Viewer are back as the title sponsor, with DXC Technology on the sleeve.
Plenty of fans have taken issue with the trademark Adidas stripes on the shoulders, which they feel ruin an otherwise good effort. “Nice but the stripes are dodgy,” wrote one fan on Twitter. “When is Adidas contract up? That’s terrible,” added another unhappy fan. “The Adidas stripes at the top ruin it,” concluded another.
